Pregame notes
The last time both teams met was in December and it resulted it a 111-128 loss for the Wizards. Bradley Beal put up 29 points but didn’t have a good shooting night. He went 8-for-23 from the field. Bertans also had an off night with just 9 points on 2-9 shooting. In that game, Washington was without Thomas Bryant and Mo Wagner due to injuries.
Memphis came out ready, outscoring Washington in the first three quarters. As a team, they had an effective field goal percentage of .637.
The Wizards should have a renewed energy after Friday night’s win. Mo Wagner will be available this time but having him on the floor likely won’t be a game-changing. It will be his third game back since returning from injury after nearly two months off the floor. It’s evident he’s still finding his rhythm and Coach Brooks is certainly giving him opportunity.
The Wizards will have their hands full with Memphis’ leading scorers Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant, and Dillon Brooks. In their last matchup, Brooks put up 27 points on 10-17 shooting. Wizards defense will be key in winning this game.
