It should be no surprise that Washington Mystics General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault and Washington Wizards General Manager Tommy Sheppard see each other in the hallway daily at the practice facility in Congress Heights. But you may not necessarily know that the two first met back in the 1990s.
In a video produced by Monumental Sports Network, Sheppard mentioned that they first met in the 1990s while Thibault was an assistant coach for the Seattle SuperSonics. This was partly because one of Sheppard’s college roommates, Bobby Medina, was a strength coach in Seattle.
In addition to this, Thibault talked about coaching past teams, such as the Omaha Racers of the Continental Basketball Association, drafting Michael Jordan while as a member of the Chicago Bulls’ coaching staff and more. Sheppard also talked about the desire to spend more time with his family as well as his time as a college football player.
