If there’s something that gets me excited for a traditional media day, it’s taking a look at the photos players have for the camera. And it’s also a time to see players in their new jerseys for the first time.

For the Washington Wizards, there’s a new point guard in town and he knows only one speed: 1,000 miles an hour. Russell Westbrook is now really here!

If there’s one thing I don’t get with photos on media day, it’s this weird pose players do with the basketball...

But at least Russ is being a good sport about it. Or maybe he’s just happy he’s in D.C. now!

To get back to that pose though, do you think Emma Meesseman, or Myisha Hines-Allen, or Ariel Atkins wanted to hold a basketball like this last summer?

(Okay, Myisha was smiling, but just saying. If someone can tell me what pose Russ, Emma, Myisha and Ariel were doing with the basketball, that would be appreciated! It just doesn’t seem like a natural pose with the ball.)

Of course, media day (or photo day in today’s pandemic world) isn’t just about Westbrook. Here’s Bradley Beal sporting the new gray City edition jersey!

And I know he’s not going to do isolation dribbles in game, but Rui Hachimura can still handle it like the best of them for these photo shoots!

You will get to see Russ, Brad, Rui, Deni, Cassius and the Wizards play their first preseason game next Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. ET.
