Wizards at Timberwolves preview: NBA-worst Washington searches for elusive first win

It’s going to be a dark winter folks, both with the coronavirus and the Wizards in the short term.

As a sports team fan, sometimes you feel so hopeless to the point where it’s hard to think positively about anything anymore. In Washington, the Wizards are certainly making things seem that way since they are now 0-5 with another game tomorrow on New Year’s Day. Scott Brooks is still claiming to try to find minutes for players after losses.

So, check this out.

When Issac Bonga is one of the team’s better defenders, it would have been good to see him on Otto Porter. Yet, he doesn’t play just “because you gotta pick somebody?”

Again, it’s time for the Wizards to fire Brooks, to save their season. There’s no good time to do these kinds of things, but when we’re hearing responses like this, I hope they fire him tonight. Like Nike, just do it Washington Wizards.

Anyway, here’s the scoop on tomorrow’s game:

Game Info

Where and When: Jan. 1, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

How to Watch: NBC Sports Washington (locally), NBA League Pass (nationally)

How to Listen: 1500 AM (locally), Wizards App (locally), SiriusXM Radio (nationally)

Injury Report: For the Wizards, they should have everyone good to go. But it’s likely that Russell Westbrook will sit this game out because it’s the second game of a back-to-back.

For the Timberwolves, Karl Anthony-Towns (wrist), Josh Okogie (hamstring) and Jaylen Nowell (calf) are expected to be out.

The key to the game

The bottom line on this game? Win!

Everyone must go out there for personal pride! Defend someone! Stop fouling so much! Make those hustle plays!

And here’s what hurts the most. The Wizards, at 0-5 are the worst team in the NBA. Who cares about the “we are trying to figure things out” card? EVERY TEAM IS DEALING WITH THE EXACT SAME SITUATION! IT’S JUST A LAZY EXCUSE AT THIS POINT!

And again, the Wizards have the worst record in the NBA despite having Bradley Beal and trading for Russell Westbrook. If you truly don’t think Beal is MVP material, Westbrook is! Or at least he HAS been at that level during his days in OKC! Don’t tell me that the Wizards jersey alone is why the team is losing even though he’s still putting up triple double after triple double!

And finally, it’s time for a coaching change — even if the Wizards win tomorrow night.

The Wolves won’t have Towns which should make things easier. Their offensive and defensive ratings are both not particularly good. Yet, they’re still 2-2 with former Washington assistant coach Ryan Saunders leading the way. And the Wizards, even with a fair amount of talent — are still 0-5? Really?

Unacceptable.

That’s all I have for this one. I’m just in a real sour mood after tonight’s loss.
