The Washington Wizards are about to kick off the first of three preseason games, starting tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately for this game Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook, Robin Lopez, Davis Bertans, and Ish Smith are not expected to play.
There are a lot of interesting storylines to look at with this game for the Wizards. The Wizards will certainly need to figure out their rotation outside their core players, and so these preseason games could be a good indication of who cracks Coach Brooks’ rotation to start the season. This will also be our first opportunity to take a look at this year’s draft picks, Deni Avdija and Cassius Winston.
For the Nets, their superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are expected to make their debut as teammates for the first time. The Nets will not have the services of their veteran swingman Caris LeVert tonight. Coach Steve Nash mentioned that he expects rotational players to get about 20-25 minutes tonight, so we should see a good amount of the Nets rotational pieces.
More than anything, it is great to have Wizards basketball back again! Let’s get the conversation going!
