The Washington Wizards have added another guard to their roster, Caleb Homesley out of Liberty University. Homesley signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Washington which is a one-year deal for the league minimum.

Homesley in his senior year was a two-time Atlantic Sun First Team All-Conference as well as the 2020 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year including tournament MVP. He averaged 15.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds as a senior. Concluding his career at Liberty University, Homesley was ranked 10th on their all-time scoring list with 1,539 points and eighth all-time in rebounding with 703 rebounds.

The Wizards currently have nine guards on their roster: John Wall, Bradley Beal, Ish Smith, Jerome Robinson, Shabazz Napier, Raul Neto, Garrison Matthews, Cassius Winston and Gary Payton II. With tension already building between the front office and Wall, there’s no certainty where Washington aims to go.

With all these guards, I suppose the Wizards are just being safe while also being guard-happy at the same time. Homesley does have solid potential, but let’s hope it doesn’t go to waste with a franchise that seems to be blowing up...in a bad way.
