In today’s deal of the day, we’ll explore a trade idea that seems rather insignificant on the surface. But it still can be a win-win for all sides.
In this scenario, the Washington Wizards trade wing Admiral Schofield and ca$h to the Phoenix Suns for guard Ellie Okobo.

Why do the Suns make the deal?
Cash helps! And at least covers Admiral’s 3rd season salary. The Suns get something for former #31 overall pick that hasn’t taken control of the back up PG job. PHX really churned through reserve points guards. Jevon Carter requires a qualifying offer. Cameron Payne came in and played well. He has a team option. Jalen Lecque and Ty Jerome are also in the picture.
Why do the Wizards make the deal?
Schofield gave his all but seems to have lost his mojo chasing different role player physiques. They like the rookie PG class well enough but worry there won’t be enough impact so they’re looking for a guard with NBA reps under his belt. In Okobo they acquire a soon to be 23 year old very-lefty point guard originally from Bordeaux, France.
If Okobo isn’t grabbing the Suns’ job why do we bother? In this scenario the new pro personnel scouting department likes him. His 3pt shooting ticked up from 29.5% to 35.2% this year. His assists and rebounds ticked up too. Still a young vet. We can bring him to camp and determine if it’s worth more of a look. If not, his contract is non-guaranteed.
They also clear out Admiral’s 3rd year guarantee at minimum.
