Ish Smith gives his take on the Wizards’ win, MVP chants and team defense

Smith led the Wizards with 27 points and has just been on a roll!

Ish Smith put the Wizards on his back Monday night and received MVP chants from the crowd as a result of it. In Washington’s 99-94 win over the Boston Celtics, the point guard put 27 points on 12-of-18 shooting. In addition, he grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. This performance comes right after his career-high 32 point performance against the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 4.

Head Coach Scott Brooks had nothing but great things to say about Smith after the game.

“If it were a two-game season, I would have to agree with the crowd: MVP,” said Brooks. “And he’s bringing back the mid-range. He plays. Man, that guy, he’s hard to stay in front of. He changes direction, his pace, speed, it’s hard—it’s hard to stay in front of him. Then he’s able to find our bigs.

Following the win, Smith spoke shared his thoughts on his performance, the MVP chants, the team’s defense, and his teammates’ support from the bench.
