The Washington Wizards lost to the Utah Jazz on Sunday night.
The first half of this game indicated that Washington could have another upset to their resume, which would have ended Utah’s then eight-game win streak. The Wizards led after the first quarter, 34-23 and led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter 77-62.
But Bojan Bogdanovic was big for Utah. He scored 31 points overall and 22 in the first half to keep Utah in it when it looked like Washington could give Ian Mahinmi a big win for the Wizards’ French Heritage Game.
But it was the other Frenchman, Utah center Rudy Gobert who scored 11 of his 21 points in the pivotal third quarter when Washington was held to just 8-of-24 shooting from the field.
Bradley Beal returned for the Wizards, scoring 25 points. Thomas Bryant returned to play off the bench, scoring 8 points in 15 minutes. Davis Bertans added 18 points, Jordan McRae added 16.
As for Mahinmi? He actually more than held his own with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. A magnifique performance for Le Roi de Normandie!

The Wizards may have lost this game after getting cold in the second half, but it’s also good to see both Beal and Bryant get back on the court after extended absences.
The Wizards will play the Chicago Bulls on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. ET.
And PS: This was sooo cute. Today was also the Wizards’ “Kids Day” game!
