The Washington Mystics beat the New York Liberty, 93-77, in their final road game of the regular-season despite not having Kristi Toliver and Aerial Powers due to injuries.

Washington came out strong, outscoring New York 31-19 in the first quarter. After the first quarter, their offensive momentum began to slow down as they 27 points to the Liberty’s 21 points. Elena Delle Donne led her team with an impressive season-high 25 first half points.

The Mystics tied the Liberty with 17 third-quarter points and were outscored by points in the final quarter. The Mystics should have beat the Liberty by far more than 16 points and this game should serve as a reminder of the importance of starting and finishing strong, especially against less talented teams.

Delle Donne finished the game 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ariel Atkins followed with 23 points and 7 rebounds. At one point during the game Atkins was shooting 80% from the 3-point line but ultimately finished with a lower, yet still impressive 66.7% (5-7).

Marine Johannes led the Liberty with 22 points while Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe followed with 12 points.

The Mystics will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 6, as they face off the Dallas Wings at home. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET.
