Pregame notes

The Mystics have both Elena Delle Donne and Emma Meesseman this time — In their loss to the Mercury a few weeks ago, the Mystics were without Elena Delle Donne due to injury and Meesseman who was an overseas commitment. With the way Delle Donne has been playing there’s no doubt that it will be a much different game this time. Meesseman will provide a great presence in the paint to help guard Bonner and Griner.

Hopefully Toliver can keep the momentum the season-high 32 points she scored last game against the Lynx because against Phoenix she only managed 7 points.

If Delle Donne and Toliver have a great offensively then the Mystics are in a greater position to beat Phoenix.

The Mystics need to contain Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner — Last matchup, Griner put up a team-high 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Bonner added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Going into that game, they were the top 2 scorers for the Mercury and still are. Delle Donne, Meesseman and the other bigs will have to work hard in the backcourt.

Could the Mystics get dunked on? — In this past weekend’s WNBA All-Star game, Brittney Griner dunked not once, but three times. In doing so, she became the first player to have multiple dunks in a WNBA All-Star game. There’s no telling if she will come to D.C. and continue throwing it down.

Mystics need to be prepared for anything and everything.
