On Saturday, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Wizards will decline to pick up Jabari Parker’s $20 million option. Because of that Parker, will be an unrestricted free agent on June 30.
Parker came to the Wizards last season in a February trade when he and Bobby Portis were acquired in exchange for Otto Porter. Parker averaged 15 points and 7.2 rebounds per game with Washington.
Though Rui Hachimura’s addition may complicate things at the forward position, the Wizards are interesting in offering him a new contract. However, they just don’t want to pay him $20 million. Since Washington is already close to the salary cap, chances are that the Wizards will not be able to re-sign him next year.
