Wizards forward Sam Dekker was part of a multi-player group of NBA players and coaches who went to Riga, Latvia for the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders Europe camp from June 9 to June 12. This is the 18th time the NBA has done the camp in Europe.
The NBA’s top Latvian players like Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis, Pelicans guard Dairis Bertans and Spurs center Davis Bertans were some of the many players who were there to coach 64 of the top European boys and girls basketball players from 26 countries.
Of course, some coaches were at camp as well like Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle and Spurs assistant coach Pablo Prigioni.
Here are just a couple training videos that we got from Dekker’s Instagram that week.

And here are some more highlights.
The NBA is a rapidly growing sport outside of America. Even though Europe is further along with basketball development than Africa and Asia generally are. it’s still important and a great thing that the NBA runs these camps to keep interest in these leagues high.
And by the way, Dekker and his wife Olivia took some pictures of the scenery in Riga. Check them out below!
