The Wizards play the Lakers tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET. Watch the game on TNT. Listen to the game on Federal News Radio 1500 AM.

This game kicks off a four-game west coast road trip for Washington, starting with the Lakers who will miss the playoffs for a franchise-record sixth consecutive season. That’s even with LeBron James who signed with the purple and gold last summer.

To some extent, the Lakers missed the playoffs because James had a groin injury that kept him out during the middle of the NBA season. But the Lakers also appeared to be “jinxed” at that time when there were rumblings of Anthony Davis coming to town in exchange for anyone not named LeBron James. Ultimately, Davis is still with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Lakers haven’t played well in the last couple months.

Since the Lakers are dealing with some turmoil, not unlike the Wizards this season, maybe this is an opportunity for Washington to get a rare season sweep. Washington beat L.A., 128-110 on Dec. 16 with John Wall scoring 40 points while James was held to just 13 that night.

Let’s see if that holds tonight. Go Wizards.
