The Wizards play the Hornets tonight or French Heritage Night.
We’ve done a lot of things in les Français this week for our Francophone fans. But if you just prefer things in American English (since we covered British English songs earlier this year), there’s good news for you too. The Wizards will hold a concert after the game featuring 1990s artists. Here are the artists you’ll listen to tonight.
Naughty by Nature
The headliner is rap trio Naughty by Nature. “Hip Hop Hooray” is their biggest hit along with “O.P.P.”, but a Bullets-themed version resonates most with Wizards fans. You can see that at the top of this article.
MC Lyte
Before Cardi B., Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim, there was MC Lyte. “Ruffneck” was one of her big hits in the 1990s.
DJ Beauty and the Beatz
There are some D.C. area artists who will be in the concert as well., I don’t see many female DJs out there so this will be cool. DJ Beauty and the Beatz has been spinning records since she was six years old according to her website and she’ll collaborate with MC Lyte according to the Wizards’ website. She is still just a teenager!
In the embed above, DJ Beauty and the Beatz did an interview and quick show on Sway in the Morning, a DJ on Sirius XM Radio’s Shade 45. She was just 15 then!
Lightshow
Lightshow is a rap artist who’s new to the music scene. He will be a local addition to the 90s stars. In a video interview with WJLA-TV’s Julie Wright, he talked about the opportunity to be with Naughty by Nature and MC Lyte this Friday. Here’s one of his latest songs called “Do A Dance.”
