The Wizards made two big moves on Wednesday night. They traded Otto Porter to the Chicago Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker. They also traded Markieff Morris to the Pelicans for Wesley Johnson and a future second round pick. The end result is that the Wizards could get some salary cap relief for this year because they move under the tax and it also gives them some cap savings in the 2019-20 season because Washington has a team option on Portis that they probably won’t use.
The Wizards are far from the only team involved in the rumor mill. Many NBA teams are trying to make a push for the playoffs like the Los Angeles Lakers. And other teams are looking to start fresh for the future. The Wizards appear to be moving in the latter direction, which they should.
Use this space to talk about the big trades that may or may not happen today. Enjoy your Thursdays everyone.
