What to Watch for
Did the break fix Washington’s slump?
The Wizards dropped five of their seven games in February, only beating the lottery-bound Cavaliers and Bulls. Losses to the Bucks and Raptors are to be expected, but the way they’ve lost recently has been concerning.
They’ve had the tenth-best offense in the league this month, but they’ve had the third-worst defense, giving up 121.1 points per 100 possessions and 128.1 points per game. If Washington doesn’t find ways to clamp down in Charlotte, they could be in for another long night on Friday.
The Hornets scored 126 against Washington the last time they faced off in December, including a 47-point outburst from Kemba Walker. Washington escaped with a win because seven different players scored in double digits, but they’ll be better off focusing on trying to slow Charlotte down rather than try to outscore them again this time around.
