Hello everyone and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and happy holiday this Wednesday. Whether you are celebrating Christmas itself, Hannukah or really, just a day off of work to be with your families, this is certainly a day for us to reflect on a great year
Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s holiday video
Take a look at the video from the Washington Mystics, Wizards, Capitals and their ownership here.

What are Washington’s best basketball gifts for the Christmas holiday?
I can think of many, but here are the top three, in THIS SPECIFIC ORDER!:
- No. 3: Emma Meesseman coming back to the Mystics this year — The Mystics forward became the 2019 WNBA Finals MVP this fall. Without her, they wouldn’t be the defending champions, plain and simple. Furthermore, Meesseman reportedly had to be persuaded to play for Washington this past season. That’s why I made a pilgrimage to Ieper last November. For all our American readers, you should too if you go to Belgium or the Netherlands. EVEN IF you live in the Netherlands or France, you BETTER make that pilgrimage too!
- No. 2 — Wizards replace Ernie Grunfeld with Tommy Sheppard — Many of you weren’t optimistic that the Wizards would ever replace Grunfeld, who seemed to be detached from the media and made quite a few questionable decisions as the President of Basketball Operations. Since he was let go in April, Tommy Sheppard has done a commendable job under the circumstances. Sheppard is also quite PR-friendly, unlike his predecessor. The current Wizards season seems bad on the surface, but BRIGHTER DAYS ARE AHEAD!
- No. 1 — Mystics win the 2019 WNBA championship — I get that some of you do not care for the Washington Mystics or the WNBA, even if you support the “Everybody Eats” style of play and the kinds of players they have in principle. Anyway, the Mystics have grown on a lot of other people in the DMV to the point where they’re tied with the Wizards in a survey on the D.C. area’s favorite teams. I get it, The Wizards are going to have a rough season. But we did get to enjoy watching a BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP HERE IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL. ENJOY IT!
Once again, I hope you have a Merry Christmas, a fantastic holiday, and a safe and quiet Wednesday!
