Pregame notes
Washington enters game short handed
The Wizards have a ton of injuries right now and that includes their sharpshooter, Davis Bertans who has already been ruled out for this game. They will need a lot of minutes from Ian Mahinmi and recent roster addition Anzejs Pasecniks.
Without having a true power forward available, expect a lot of small ball lineups with Issac Bonga and Admiral Schofield filling those roles.
The Wizards are favored, on paper
Despite the Wizards’ injuries, this is a rare game for the Wizards against a team that is behind them in the standings. Right now, the Wizards only have the Cavaliers, Knicks and Hawks behind them in the Eastern Conference standings.
Needless to say, there won’t be many games against teams that are struggling like the Knicks are, so ideally the Wizards need to take advantage of this matchup. That is easier said than done.
Flashback: Beal big night finishes off Knicks
Last season, the Wizards got a nice win over the Knicks in New York, as Beal almost got a triple double with a 27 point, 8 rebound, 8 assist performance.
