The Washington Wizards won their first preseason game against the Guangzhou Loong Lions, 137- 98 Wednesday evening at Capital One Arena.
After losing to the 76ers 144-86 Tuesday night, the Loong Lions showed up to Capital One Arena and gave the Wizards a hard time in the first quarter.
Ahead of the game, the Wizards announced that Ish Smith and Bradley Beal would not play.
Washington started the game off slow before finding their rhythm towards the end of the first quarter and were in control the remainder of the game.
Coming off the bench, Moritz Wagner held his own again tonight. The center led the team with 21 points (9-10 from the field). He added 4 rebounds and 3 assists to his stat line this evening. Washington looks like it could be a really good fit for him. He’s taken advantage of every opportunity he’s seen the floor in the first two preseason games and so far, he looks like a great addition to the team.

Garrison Matthews and Admiral Schofield both followed with 15 points each off of the bench.
For the Loong Lions, C.J. Harris and Andrew Nicholson led with 25 and 21 points respectively.
Before and throughout the game it was hard to miss the attendees, who showed up in shirts that read “Free Hong Kong”. Whenever the arena got quiet, there was almost always a protestor yelling “Free Hong Kong!”

Security did confiscate signage and escort some people out during the game. Staff members of the Loong Lions looked visibly annoyed by a protestor who sat behind their bench and yelled every opportunity he had.
Security might have had to do the most work they will have to do all season tonight.
