Wednesday will be a battle of D.C. vs. Houston sports

The Washington Wizards host the Houston Rockets in their home opener. The Washington Nationals will be on the road against the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the 2019 World Series.

Washington, D.C. is quickly becoming a big-time sports city. The Washington Mystics won the WNBA championship earlier this month while the Washington Nationals are just one game from winning the 2019 World Series against the Houston Astros.

In a coincidence, the Washington Wizards will play the Houston Rockets later tonight at 8 p.m. right when the Nationals face off against the Astros in Game 7 of the World Series on the road.

It wasn’t terribly long ago when the Nationals were believed to be out of the running of a MLB playoff spot. And it wasn’t long ago when the Wizards were simply expected to have a bad season record and development-wise. But here we are.

The Nationals could join the Mystics as champions in their respective leagues. And the Wizards could very well play better than most expected. Today is going to be a special day for all sports fans in Washington. Here’s to a Wizards win and a Nationals World Series title!
