The Washington Wizards released their opening day roster on Monday. There are no surprises to the roster, but they announced that Chris Chiozza was signed to a two-way contract as part of the 17-man roster.

As a two-way player, Chiozza will spend most of the season with the Capital City Go-Go, but he can play with the Wizards for up to 45-days at any time. If he is on the Wizards longer than that, his contract must be as a full-time NBA player.

Chiozza was on the Capital City Go-Go last season and was a member of the Wizards’ training camp roster. He will probably not get much time on the court with Ish Smith, Justin Robinson and Isaiah Thomas playing, but it’s also clear that Washington has Chiozza in their plans. Perhaps he could be a backup point guard once John Wall returns, presumably next season.

Garrison Mathews is the second Wizards player who is on a two-way contract.
