Wizards Fans Are So Shell-Shocked We Can't Even Get Excited About The Best Roster In Decades.

Note: This post was refashioned from a comment.

I get it: everyone’s leery of getting excited because last season went badly, John might be overweight, Dwight’s got a bad back and everything is awful. We’re so used to being disappointed that we can’t even get excited anymore.

But come on, guys, lighten up!

This season’s gonna be fun. Think about all the cool stuff we're about to see!

I’m excited to see Dwight Howard dunk so hard the entire basket is still shaking as the team gets back on D. To see Jeff Green have about 15 games that suddenly remind us why everyone once thought he’d be all-NBA someday. To see Oubre and his Go-Go-Gadget arms make that awesome first down gesture after every forced turnover. To see John toss ridiculous cross-court passes and flex/mean mug to his family when it ends with another assist. To see Jason Smith wave that towel like a madman and collect $5M as the world's most expensive cheeleader.

To see Otto hoisting up 17 shots a night. To see young Troy check into this first home game to a smattering of polite, if disinterested, applause. To see Devin Robinson morph into the G-League’s Vince Carter. To see baby Beal courtside. To see those awesome new black seats at a renovated Cap One Arena. To see Austin Rivers score 20 points in a quarter. To see Keef’s first ejection. To "go to a GoGo" and see the awesome new Arena that's either gonna revitalize Congress Heights or gentrify it beyond recognition.

To see Jodie Meeks released mid-season to open up a roster spot for a Chasson Randle. To see Thomas Bryant somewhere other than the line outside Eighteenth Street Lounge looking clueless about how to get in because this isn't LA and nobody recognizes him or cares to let him jump to the front. To see Ian fumble an easy post pass, but redeem himself with a thunderous dunk minutes later. To see Satoransky yam on someone and hear clueless opposing team announcers ask "who’s that guy"? To see opposing teams "fans" come into the arena talkin’ cash sh*t and leave quietly and early.

To see all the national pundits with recency bias eat their own words then this team finally hits the 50 win mark.

Let’s get excited, folks! Hope springs eternal! Hope is good. Have hope.
