Chad Iske agrees to join Hornets’ coaching staff, according to report

NBA: Washington Wizards at Denver Nuggets Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Chad Iske is leaving the Wizards’ coaching staff to join the Charlotte Hornets’ coaching staff under new head coach James Borrego, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Iske is the second assistant to leave Scott Brooks’ coaching staff this summer, along with Sidney Lowe who took the head assistant job with Dwane Casey’s new coaching staff in Detroit.

Prior to joining Scott Brooks’ staff in 2016, Iske worked as an assistant with the Denver Nuggets (where he worked with Brooks), Philadelphia 76ers, and Sacramento Kings.

It will be interesting to see how Scott Brooks fills his new vacancy, since it’s unlikely he’ll be able to hire someone else from his immediate coaching circle, now that Robert Pack is back in the fold. Virtually every other assistant Brooks had in Oklahoma City has gone on to bigger positions or they’re already with him in Washington. So he’ll either need to promote up or hire from the outside.
