Mystics vs. Liberty final score: Elena Delle Donne’s 3-pointer at the buzzer lifts Mystics to 80-77 win

Don’t ever sleep on Elena Delle Donne.

The Washington Mystics defeated the New York Liberty 80-77 on Thursday evening for their fourth straight victory.

Elena Delle Donne led the way for Washington with 22 points and 6 rebounds, while Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Krisiti Toliver added 12 and 10 points respectively. New York’s Epiphanny Prince scored a team-high 21 points and Tina Charles followed with 18 points.

New York came to play and will be back soon

The Liberty gave Washington a run for their money tonight. The game easily could have gone either way which should not make the Mystics feel comfortable at all at this point in their season. Both teams meet again next Thursday.

Elena Delle Donne delivered

Between grabbing her own rebounds and creating her own shots, Delle Donne simply could not be stopped. She led her team with 22 points and with the game tied, up it only made sense for EDD to take the final shot with the game on the line. Was anyone else surprised that she drained a buzzer-beating trey? Didn’t think so. If you missed the last seconds of the game, please refer to the video below.

The play is remarkably similar to one the Timberwolves used a few years ago to get Kevin Love a game-winning shot against the Clippers:

Next Game: The Mystics host the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
