Cap Relief for Washington

Hey Wizards fans,

I'm a staff writer over at Sactown Royalty (Kings) and we've been wondering if you feel the need for Washington to move one of their three core players (Wall, Beal, Porter) to open up some cap space for the future. As I'm sure you're well aware, Wall's extension kicks in next season and 86% of your cap space will be invested in those three players alone.

The Kings are entering the summer with quite a bit of open salary this summer, so our proposal was to take on an immense amount of money from y'all in exchange for a couple of solid young players, one of who meets Wall's desire for an athletic center, as well as a defensive stud who can't stay healthy. Here's the trade:

SAC: Otto Porter, Ian Mahinmi

WAS: Iman Shumpert, Willie Cauley-Stein, Justin Jackson

The benefit is clearly cap relief. Sacramento would absorbing about $42 million in salary, while only sending back approximately $18 million. Also, Iman Shumpert's deal is expiring at the end of the season, worth another $11 million of space for Washington. Willie Cauley-Stein is an athletic freak who can rim roll and defend moderately well, and Justin Jackson is a small forward prospect who could turn into something decent.

The Kings obtain their small forward that they went after last season and just have to deal with Mahinmi's contract for the next two season.

What are your thoughts? Do you believe the Wizards need to move on from Porter or Beal or Wall?
