The Wizards have already paid the price for Markieff Morris’ ejection early in Friday’s game against the Hawks. It hurt their depth on a night when they were already missing John Wall and Ian Mahinmi and set the tone for a disappointing loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Now, Markieff Morris is going to have to pay his own price. The league announced on Sunday afternoon he’s been fined $15,000 for “directing inappropriate comments toward a game official” during his ejection on Friday.
You can view the incident here. Good luck trying to figure out what he said:
Morris now has 13 technical fouls, the sixth-most in the league this season. There’s still a chance he could get to the 16 technical foul limit which would incur an automatic one-game suspension, but considering there are only two games left and you can only draw two technical fouls per game, he’d have to work really hard for it.
