Otto Porter expecting to return Wednesday after going through full practice

The Wizards will be a little less shorthanded on Wednesday. Otto Porter Jr. went through a full practice with the team on Monday and is planning to return when the team hosts the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.

The Wizards have gone 3-8 since Porter suffered a knee contusion during the team’s game on December 10 against the Indiana Pacers. Although he hasn’t been quite as effective this season as he has in the past two seasons, he should provide a much-needed boost for Washington, especially after losing John Wall for the season. Porter has the best net rating on the team among players who have played at least 500 minutes this season.

When Porter returns on Wednesday, it will be his first time playing with Trevor Ariza since the deal that sent Kelly Oubre Jr. out to Phoenix. His return also means there will be less time for Jeff Green and Sam Dekker, who have both played well in Porter’s absence.

At the same time, the Wizards are still awaiting word on how long Markieff Morris will be out of action. Scott Brooks said after Monday’s practice that Morris will visit a specialist in Dallas on Wednesday to take a look at the back/neck issues that have kept him out of the last two games.
