This game on paper should be a Washington victory. But after seeing the Wizards’ impressive win over the Lakers last Sunday, this game could very easily be a “trap” game that has the hashtag “#SoWizards” all over it. So Washington cannot afford to take it easy — even with the tougher Houston Rockets on the docket for tomorrow.
If there’s someone who I’m most impressed with on the Hawks roster, it’s Vince Carter. He’s a shell of what he once was, but Carter is still contributing valuable minutes at 41 years old. Carter is averaging 7.2 points a game while shooting 41 percent from the field and nearly 37 percent from three. In fact, Carter is taking most of his shots from the three point line now.
There are plenty of older players who have just broken down and couldn’t be effective at all in their late 30’s. But Carter is still providing value on the court for the Hawks as a producer, but also as a mentor to their young team. The wins aren’t there of course, but the goal right now is to see how John Collins, Trae Young, and Co. build together over the next few seasons.
Anyway, let’s go Wizards!
