Top Stories of the Week: The Wizards’ season from hell continues

The Wizards have their work cut out of them as they start November.

Hope everyone’s Halloween week went well, so let’s get to the top stories:

The Wizards are the laughing stock of the league right now

The Wizards are 1-7. They lost to the Clippers last Sunday and the Grizzlies last Tuesday, finishing a five-game Western Conference road trip from hell. Ultimately, that road trip raises questions like:

The Wizards appear to be headed to a point of no-return, even if they did make big turnarounds in 2016-17 and 2013-14 despite similarly bad starts. The bottom line is that the Wizards are a veteran team where many of the core pieces have played together for many seasons. And now, even though Dwight Howard was finally ready for game action this week, the Wizards are missing Marcin Gortat’s screen assists already.

Though this is gut-wrenching for fans in the nation’s capital, the Wizards may very well be a must-see soap opera according to John Gonzalez of The Ringer.

They played on Friday against the Thunder on national television. And they lost again, 134-111.

The Capital City Go-Go begin their inaugural season

The Go-Go will begin their first game later tonight at 7 p.m. at the Sports and Entertainment Arena in Congress Heights. They will play the Greensboro Swarm and you can watch the game on Facebook Live!

GEICO is the official basketball jersey sponsor of Monumental Sports & Entertainment

And finally, the basketball teams in the Monumental Sports family (Wizards, Mystics, and Go-Go) will wear a Geico placement on their uniforms. Check out the look here:

I’m not sure who your favorite GEICO mascot is, whether it’s the British Gecko or the Caveman. For me, it’s the Money with the creepy Google-y eyes.

Alright, that’s it from me. Enjoy the rest of your weekends and an extra hour of sleep before Sunday!
