John Wall is expecting his first child “any day”

Austin Rivers said earlier this season that Wall was expecting a child, but Wall himself did not say anything until this week.

Not too long ago, I wrote that several of the Wizards’ players were all entering new stages of their lives, namely as fathers. Austin Rivers and Bradley Beal just welcomed their first sons last summer. Ian Mahinmi had his third daughter last summer. And Markieff Morris welcomed his first daughter last year.

Last October, Rivers said that John Wall was also about to be a father himself in his podcast on The Uninterrupted. Wall, who keeps his private life more guarded than most NBA All-Stars, did not comment on it at the time.

But last Monday, Wall confirmed it in an interview with NBC Sports Washington’s Chris Miller and Phil Chenier. In the interview, Wall mentioned that he will be there when his child is born which could be “any day.” So it is likely that Wall will miss some games in the near future for that moment.

Now that we know Wall is about to be a father, right when several other players became fathers at the same time, does that add some perspective to the Wizards’ slow start this season? Let us know in the comments below.
