Wizards unveil black District uniforms for 2018-19 season

The Wizards unveiled their fourth uniform for the 2018-19 season on Friday, and it has a similar feel to last season’s “City” uniform, but in black instead of white:

It’s essentially a photo-negative version of last year’s uniform, except they kept the names, numbers, side-paneling, and new sponsor patch white for visibility. The team says it went black to “celebrate the one-of-a kind scene that is Washington D.C.’s National Mall at night.”

It’s also a good way to celebrate their rivalry with the Celtics. They will wear the jersey 19 times throughout the season, including all three times they face the Celtics, so they can go into full Funeral Game mode for every matchup this season.

The Wizards will debut the uniforms on November 16 when they host the Brooklyn Nets and they will be available for purchase starting on November 9.

This won’t be the last time the Wizards get a new uniform this season. The uniform schedule notes the Wizards will get a special fifth jersey this winter, the “Earned” edition, which only teams who made the playoffs the previous season receive.
