The Wizards are playing the Clippers tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET. You can watch the game on NBC Sports Washington or listen through the Wizards mobile app and 1500 AM.
The Wizards will have an early reunion with two of their players on last year’s team. Mike Scott joins a list of several frontcourt players who earned big contracts thanks to John Wall’s passing. But more importantly, it’s the return of THE MACHINE HIMSELF, MARCIN GORTAT!
Gortat played four years for Washington and was a consistent scorer and rebounder at the center position. He was never an All Star, but he was always reliable and the Wizards’ “Iron Man.” He didn’t miss a preseason, regular season, or postseason game in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons though he was the oldest player on the team.
This season, Gortat is still showing up every day, but he’s shooting a career low 38.9 percent from the field though he’s still averaging 6.4 rebounds in 17 minutes played per game. If Gortat were still in Washington, it’s reasonable to expect that his shooting would be better, and he’d still be starting.
For what it’s worth, the Wizards don’t have a center on the rotation with Dwight Howard yet to play and Ian Mahinmi having back spasms... Because of that, Gortat could be poised for a revenge game. That’s so .. Wizards but I digress.
Enjoy listening to Young Igi, one of the most popular Polish rappers right now. This is one of his latest songs, “Bestia,” or “Beast” in Polish. Marcin is still our “Bestia.”
Go Wizards!
