Daily Digits: The Wizards are closing in on a historic streak

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Washington Wizards Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Daily Digits is a new daily feature we’re doing at Bullets Forever this year where we take a look at stats about the Wizards. We’ll dive into the numbers, add some context, and discuss how they affect the product on the court.

We’ve talked a lot about the Wizards’ rebounding issues this season, but only because it’s historically horrendous. They’ve been outrebounded by double-digits in all five games so far this season, even Friday’s game against the Kings, who are currently 26th in rebounding percentage.

Things won’t get better for their next game on Sunday against the Clippers. They’re 12th in rebounding percentage and feature five players averaging at least six rebounds per game (including old friend Marcin Gortat). The Wizards only have two, and both of them just barely clear the mark.

If they can’t break the streak against the Clippers, they’ll have a good chance on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are currently 28th in rebounding percentage. If they can’t snap it in that game, then they’ll certainly earn their spot in the record books.
