What to Watch for

Can the Wizards pace themselves on this road trip?

The Wizards have been susceptible to letdown games in the past, and this road trip sets up like an extended version of one. After they face Portland, it’s off to Golden State to take on the two-time defending champs. Then, they close out with winnable games against the Kings, Clippers, and Grizzlies that are easy to overlook, especially on tired legs.

It’s going to take a good effort to beat the Blazers at home, and the Wizards will surely give it their best as they take on another team that can stake a claim as one of the best backcourts in the NBA. A win on the road would be an outstanding way to kick off the road trip and make a statement to the rest of the league after losing two close games at home. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come at the expense of coming out flat for a game later in the trip.
