Daily Digits is a new daily feature we’re doing at Bullets Forever this year where we take a look at stats about the Wizards. We’ll dive into the numbers, add some context, and discuss how it affects the product on the court.

Today’s stat is the number of points Troy Brown scored in Friday’s win over the Guangzhou Long-Lions which was...

21

Brown showed off all the reasons why the Wizards took him so high in this year’s draft on Friday. He got to the rim with ease, earning 11 free throws in under 27 minutes. He also finished with a game-high 8 rebounds and made some dazzling assists in transition.

It all came in an exhibition game against a team from China, so it doesn’t say much about Brown’s ability to contribute on the NBA level. But sometimes it’s just important to get a confidence boost, especially considering how he struggled in the preseason.

He shot 4-for-18 from the field and had more turnovers than assists against NBA competition. He didn’t even play in Washington’s game on Wednesday against Detroit when Brooks went to a 10-man rotation. Odds are, this is the last time we’ll see Brown play extended minutes with the team for quite a while, so it was nice to see him get a little taste of what it’s like to have some success in a Wizards jersey. Hopefully it will serve him well the next time he gets a chance to make an impression.
