Wizards vs. Long Lions GameThread

The Wizards take on the Guangzhou Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association tonight at 7 p.m. EST. You can watch the game on NBC Sports Washington and listen on the radio at Federal News Radio 1500 AM or the Wizards mobile app. Last season, the Long Lions made the first round of the CBA Playoffs but lost to the Shenzhen Leopards.

This is the second time the Wizards have played the Long Lions. They met last October with Washington winning. This time shouldn’t be any different.

So what are some facts about Guangzhou? Here are some below:

1. The city is better known as Canton to westerners - Guangzhou is located in southeastern China. The main language spoken there is Cantonese though Mandarin is the official language in all of mainland China.
2. It is the third largest city in mainland China - Guangzhou has nearly 15 million residents. That’s bigger than New York City, the largest city in the United States.
3. Guangzhou is a big port city - Every powerful country must have big harbors. In America, Portland and Baltimore are known for their large ports. In mainland China, it’s Guangzhou in the country’s southern region.
4. One of the world’s highest observation deck is here - Tour the Canton Tower, which is nearly 2,000 feet high!
