President Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union speech to the United States Congress on January 30 when the Wizards host the Thunder. The timing of that speech and President Trump’s exact travel time may impact your departure from the game.

President Trump’s speech is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. ET, which means that he’s arriving at the Capitol well before then. Expect Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the Capitol to be blocked off at some period of time in the evening so the President’s motorcade can move through.

Wizards games end between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m. if they don’t go into overtime. And State of the Union speeches lasts about an hour, so there shouldn’t be too many complications going home. But if the Wizards get into a triple overtime thriller, then things could change since the Presidents generally leaves the Capitol soon after he delivers his speech.

Therefore, if you’re driving home from Capital One Arena and live in Virginia, you may find your trip back to be longer than usual if the game ends late. And it may be affected if you eat at a nearby restaurant afterwards.
