The Wizards will host the Nets on Saturday for Polish Heritage Night. This week, we’ve been doing a Polish-themed series, some on Gortat, and some on others of Polish heritage.

Today, we’ll talk about some miscellaneous moments during Marcin Gortat’s time in D.C., in no particular order.

The Giraffe

Gortat has a giraffe he calls “Godson.” The giraffe is female by the way. Wonder how tall she is a year later.

The pet pig

In 2014, Gortat walked his “puppy” in a Polish shopping mall one summer.

Gortat holds annual basketball camps each summer in Poland. In 2014, he rode into camp while in a tank with former Wizards swingman Chris Singleton. GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Lego Gortat

In 2016, Gortat posed with a 1:1 replica of himself in Danish toy blocks.

That time he chatted with Shaq about barbecued pierorgies

Gortat had his career-best game in Game 5 against the Pacers in the 2014 NBA Playoffs. After the game, Shaq made references to Gortat heating up as a “barbecued pierorgie alert!” They even exchanged about that afterwards!

Gortat interacted with Brazzers on Twitter

He replied to tweets that Brazzers posted in 2014. Gortat also replied to fans who noted that he can afford a Brazzers subscription.

Meeting Polish troops abroad

In 2017, Gortat traveled to Iraq to meet with Polish special forces. Polish special forces have been in Iraq as part of NATO, the trans-Atlantic alliance between the United States, Canada, and most of Europe.

That dunk on Mahinmi...

Who would’ve ever thought they’d be teammates just a couple years later and right now?
