It’s looking like there will be even more of the same with the Wizards’ uniform design as the NBA makes the switch from Adidas to Nike for the 2017-18 season.
A Twitter user who got an early copy of NBA 2K18 shared screenshots of every team’s “Statement uniform” with Conrad Burry of Sportslogos.net, including Washington’s. Based on the screenshot, Washington will be sticking with the blue alternate design the team unveiled before the start of the 2014-15 season.
However, there is still an opportunity for a new uniform this season, because each team gets four uniform designs as part of Nike’s takeover. The team announced last month that the team will not be bringing back their stars & stripes design from last season. Plus, it’s been reported that Nike will not produce sleeved jerseys like Adidas did in recent years, so unless the Wizards adapt their red, sleeved uniform from previous seasons, they’ll need a new design for the other uniform.
Let’s just hope with whatever they choose for the fourth uniform that they don’t bring back the Duracell uniforms. Kelly Oubre wouldn’t even be able to make those look good.
