Chris McCullough is being assigned to the Northern Arizona Suns of D-League, according to Chase Hughes of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
McCullough is no stranger to the D-League. He played 31 games with Brooklyn’s D-League affiliate this season, averaging 18.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Since the Wizards do not have a direct D-League affiliate, Washington has to use the flexible assignment system to put McCullough on a team. They’ve used Philadelphia’s D-League affiliate in Delaware in previous assignments this season, but since the Wizards will be on the West Coast next week, it makes more sense to have him on a team that’s nearby should the Wizards need to call him back up to the roster in an emergency.
The assignment comes just two days after McCullough’s first in-game action with the Wizards. He played the final 1:39 of Wednesday’s win over Toronto and scored 1 point after drawing a foul on the first possession after he entered the game.
