LeBron James notched his fourth triple-double in the past five games with 20 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds as the Cavs used a late fourth quarter run to beat the Wizards, 106-99 on Sunday night.

Kevin Love also turned in a big game for the Cavs, knocking down a team-high 25 points on 5 of 8 shooting from three-point range.

Bradley Beal scored a game-high 27 points on 10 of 27 shooting while Mike Scott added 19 but outside of those two, no one else proved to be a consistent scoring threat for the Wizards.

As we know with the Wizards, they tend to play to their level of competition for better or for worse. Washington was in this game up until the very end in an exciting back-and-forth affair that featured 9 ties and 15 lead changes.

Takeaways

Outside of Bradley Beal and Mike Scott, no one on the Wizards provided much of a scoring threat

Markieff Morris scored seven of his 10 points in the first quarter and Kelly Oubre had some timely buckets but outside of Beal and Scott, no one was really a scoring threat throughout the entire game for Washington.

Beal scored the first seven points of the second quarter for Washington to keep them in the game after it looked like the Cavs might pull away early.

Beal kept letting it fly in the second half as it was clear that no other Wizards besides Mike Scott would be much of a scoring threat. With Wall out, we’ve seen Beal go into ‘hero-ball’ mode for better or for worse. Tonight, it helped the Wizards as they were able to stay within striking distance until the very end.

John Wall was very aggressive attacking the hole in the first half as he was 4 of 8 from the field with many of those shots coming at the rim. However, that wouldn’t carry over into the second half, when he only scored four points on eight shots.

Mike Scott continues his hot run

Mike Scott came into the game connecting on a whopping 34 of his last 43 field goal attempts. Although he didn’t shoot 79 percent from the field tonight, he had a very solid performance with 19 points on 8 of 14 shooting.

His strong play led Scott Brooks to start him in the second half over Morris, which gave us a better look at how he’d fare in Morris’ place as a starter. He didn’t disappoint. He hit several tough shots for the Wizards to keep them going at a time when they needed a spark.

We may be on the brink of Mike Scott starting over Morris. Just saying.

Yet again, free throw shooting haunts the Wizards

Washington shot a pathetic 9 of 16 (56 percent) from the line tonight. Not only are the Wizards missing free throws but they are missing them at timely moments in the game. Morris missed one of two free throws as the Wizards were trying to claw back in this one late in the fourth quarter and John Wall only shot twice from the stripe.

Washington lost by seven and missed seven free throws; you do the math.
