Wizards at Kings final score: Washington goes on a three point rampage in 110-83 win

The Wizards have started the 2017-18 season with a 3-2 record. However, they never had a truly complete game that they controlled from start to finish. The game they probably had the best chance of doing so was against the Golden State Warriors last Friday, but they ultimately let an 18 point lead slip away.

So that leads us to tonight’s match against the Sacramento Kings. After Bradley Beal and Kelly Oubre were cleared to play, it felt like a weight was lifted off their shoulders. The Wizards came out running and blew out the Kings.

John Wall was a maestro tonight, where he scored 19 points and made 5 of 6 three pointers, along with 9 assists. If he played in the fourth quarter, Wall would easily have a double double.

Wall’s hot three point shooting was contagious with the rest of the team as they went out and made 17 of 34 three pointers as a team. Nine Wizards players made at least one three in tonight’s game.

The defense of the Kings was solid, but given that this team was without George Hill and Zach Randolph tonight, things were ugly for them from start to finish. The Wizards held the Kings to 27.9 percent shooting in the first half and went into halftime with a commanding 63-32 lead.

The Wizards started getting a little sloppy at times and couldn’t build upon their lead for most of the second half. But to be honest, after leading by 30, all they needed to do was tread water to close things out.

Notes

• Mike Scott shows what he can do in spurts - Scott scored 11 consecutive points in the second quarter to help blow the game open. Without his contributions in the second quarter, there were some times when both teams were just exchanging brick after brick.
• The Otto Porter and Kelly Oubre forward duo could work out better than we thought - While Markieff Morris is still out due to injury, the Wizards have tried to see how Kelly Oubre could with starting minutes. while Porter spends more time at the power forward position. Porter scored 16 points while Oubre scored 9. But the bigger story to me is that they made a combined 3 of 5 three pointers. Ben Mehic also noted earlier this weekend that both improved their three point shooting from last year — and Porter is already one of the most efficient shooters from deep. I’m not sure what this lineup will start games once Keef returns, but it’s certainly effective in stretches to say the last.
• Kara Lawson has her homecoming - I wrote about this already, but the NBC Sports Washington broadcasting crew was quick to note that color analyst Kara Lawson has a lot of ties with Sacramento as a player and broadcaster. The Kings recognized her during a timeout, which prompted Kyle Andrews (who was behind the controls of the Twitter account) to hold a Kara Lawson Appreciation Hour. NBC Sports was appreciative:
