On Monday, former Wizards star Gilbert Arenas and social media personality Mia Khalifa hosted the first edition of their YouTube show, “Out of Bounds” which you can see on Complex’s channel in the video above. There is profanity throughout the video so it is NSFW.
During the show, Arenas gave a couple insights in regard to his time with the Wizards.
At the 12 minute mark, Arenas talked about an altercation that the Wizards were involved in on October 25, 2004 in a preseason game vs. the Bulls. Though they weren’t involved in the initial incident, Brendan Haywood and Antonio Davis got in a brawl of their own.
In what would be considered an ejectable offense today, Haywood stayed in the game despite throwing a punch at Davis. This also happened a few weeks before the infamous “Malice in the Palace” incident. Haywood was suspended for three regular games soon after the incident. Arenas talked about that fight after reacting to Blazers guard C.J. McCollum’s suspension for leaving the bench during a preseason altercation.
At the 16 minute mark, Arenas also said that he would not have taken a pay cut so the Wizards would have room to re-sign Larry Hughes in 2005. Arenas would not have been able to take a pay cut in the 2005 NBA offseason though because he was in the middle of his first major contract at the time.
After the first show, it appears that Arenas and Mia Khalifa are going to have a show that is a more unfiltered version of ESPN’s “First Take” or Fox Sports’ “Undisputed.” Like the other two shows, “Out of Bounds” has moderators, namely Complex’s Pierce Simpson and Adam Caparell. We’ll see how many more insights Arenas gives about his time with the Wizards as the show continues.
