Artist. Visionary. Influencer. Innovator. Fashion mogul.
These are all things that have been used to describe Kelly Oubre, but they also apply to Kanye West. So it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that they’ve discussed collaborating on a fashion project that could benefit the game of basketball.
Recently, Kelly Oubre did a video with the NBA Players Association where he talked about his experience at New York Fashion Week (HT: Keely Diven of CSN Mid-Atlantic). As part of the discussion he talked about the time he met Kanye West during a show at the Verizon Center earlier this month:
I met up with Kanye when he came to D.C. to the Verizon Center. It was a great experience. He said, “Did you see the football cleats I just made? I’m trying to get into the basketball side.”
I told him we could work together on that. Don’t be surprise if you see me and Ye come out with some fire.
A Yeezy basketball shoe would undoubtedly sell like hotcakes, so it would be great for Kelly Oubre to get in on that action if possible. It would also probably be good for Kanye to work with Oubre, because he’s a bit more fashion forward than fellow Adidas endorser James Harden. Also it’s probably weird working on something with your sister-in-law’s ex-boyfriend, but that’s neither here nor there.
Let’s just make a Kanye x Oubre collaboration happen. I need it. Basketball needs it. The world needs it.
