The USA Basketball men’s national team has made the semifinals after beating Argentina, 105-78. The men’s team will play Spain in a rematch later today. The American defense and the second unit played huge roles, while Kevin Durant scored 27 points to seal the deal.

After three close wins, I’m glad to see that Team USA regained its form. I will admit that I’m a little sad to see that Manu Ginobili also played his last game for his home country. With Argentina now eliminated from the Olympics, it’s also the end of an era as he, Andres Nocioni, Luis Scola, and Carlos Delfino were members of the 2004 team that won the Gold Medal in Athens.

Here’s the schedule for today’s games:

United States vs. Spain, 2:30 p.m. ET

Spain defeated France 92-67 to get to the semis. We’ll see a rematch of the 2008 and 2012 Gold Medal matches here. Unfortunately, the loser of this match isn’t necessarily guaranteed a medal.

Australia vs. Serbia, 6 p.m. ET

The Boomers blew out Lithuania on Wednesday, 90-64 with Patty Mills scoring a game high 24 points in the win. Serbia edged out Croatia 86-83 in their win. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 28 points in the loss, but 18 turnovers by the Croatians were a bit too much to overcome. I liked seeing how the Australians performed during these Olympics, so I’m giving them the edge here.
