Wizards 2016-17 schedule released

The Washington Wizards’ schedule for the 2016-17 season is out. As expected, it doesn’t feature many high profile national games after going 41-41 last season since we don’t see. Here’s what you need to know:

How many national TV games do they get this year?

By national TV, we are considering games that are on ESPN, ESPN2, and TNT. Five games will be on the national airwaves this season, and they are listed below:

  • Wednesday, January 11 at Boston Celtics, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)
  • Thursday, January 19 at New York Knicks, 8 p.m. ET (TNT)
  • Friday, February 10 vs. Indiana Pacers, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)
  • Friday, March 22 vs. Atlanta Hawks, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)
  • Monday, April 10 at Detroit Pistons, 8 p.m. ET (TNT)

When is the opener?

The Wizards start their regular season against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, October 27. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

When is the home opener?

The Wizards’ first home game is on Wednesday, November 2 against the Toronto Raptors. It will be their third game of the regular season. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET.

Are they playing on Christmas?

No.

Who are they playing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

In what seems to be an annual tradition, the Wizards are playing on Martin Luther King Day which is on Monday, January 16 at 2 p.m. ET. They will play the Portland Trail Blazers.

When do Kevin Durant and the Warriors come to town?

The Warriors will be at Verizon Center on Tuesday, February 28. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET.

When do the Cavaliers come to town?

We won’t have to wait very long to see the Defending Champs come to town. They will arrive on Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. ET. They will come back a second time on Monday, February 6 at 7 p.m. ET.
