Sterling Gibbs will play with Wizards Summer League team, according to report

NCAA Basketball: AAC Tournament - Cincinnati vs Connecticut Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

After the first flurry of Summer League signings, it was clear the Wizards were going to need to add some more backcourt depth. Now, it looks like they're beginning to do just that.

Washington has signed Sterling Gibbs to their Summer League squad, according to Adam Zagoria of SportsNet New York.

The signing shouldn't come as much of a surprise after the Wizards brought him in for two predraft workouts this spring.

Gibbs has a bit of an interesting history, as some Maryland fans may recall. He originally committed to the Terps out of high school but backed out and signed with Texas after Gary Williams retired. Then, after a year with the Longhorns he transferred to Seton Hall. After he graduated, he took advantage of the NCAA's graduate transfer rule to finish out his collegiate career at UConn last season.

Now, he'll take his talents to Vegas with the Wizards with a chance to make a nice impression. As of now, he's the only point guard who has committed to the team. He joins Kelly Oubre, Aaron White, Jarell Eddie, Jaleel Roberts, Daniel Ochefu, Shawn Dawson, Sheldon McClellan, Danuel House, Jacob Tarczewski on this year's initial roster.
