In this week’s episode, Jake Whitacre talks with Ben Standig of CSN Mid-Atlantic about this year’s draft. They take a look at whether or not this was a good year to trade out, whether or not it’s worth trying to use some cash considerations to buy their way back into the draft, and if some local prospects (Diamond Stone, Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Carter, and Jake Layman) would make sense in Washington.
They also examine a few notable names who probably won’t get drafted, but might be interesting prospects to invite to Summer League or training camp, like Marcus Paige, Fred Van Vleet, Ryan Arcidiacono, George Niang, Rasheed Suliamon, Marshall Plumlee, D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (who was recently invited in for a draft workout with the Wizards), and Patricio Garino.
Finally, they try to sort out the Wizards’ plans in free agency and some under-the-radar targets like Seth Curry and Ersan Ilyasova who can add depth next season.
