Scott Brooks is the Wizards' "top priority"; set to meet with team next week, according to report

On Thursday, Ernie Grunfeld said there was no timeframe on having a new coach in place, but it looks like they're not wasting any time getting a candidate in for a meeting.

The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Wizards are meeting with Scott Brooks next week:

Scott Brooks has yet to set up a meeting with Minnesota, but there are tentative plans for Washington Wizards officials to visit with Brooks next week, league sources said. Brooks is the Wizards’ top priority, league sources said.

Give credit to the Wizards for getting Brooks in early. Marc Stein of ESPN reported the Rockets are interested in Brooks, who played for the team in the 90's and has past experience with James Harden. By getting him in now, they can make their pitch first and if they're lucky, perhaps they can have him locked up before the Rockets are eliminated from the playoffs.

Of course, it's fair to question if Brooks is the guy the Wizards should be locked into so early in the process, but it's clear he's the guy they want. Now we just have to wait and see if the team can sell him on their vision next week.
